Jennifer Wright from Northwich spends every Sunday volunteering for our Hospice as a weekend Receptionist.

Jennifer said: “About three years ago I suddenly stopped working and so I decided to do voluntary work. I have friends who volunteer for St Luke’s so I knew about the Hospice and wanted to support it.

“I prefer to be busy so it’s perfect for me to volunteer at the weekend. I really enjoy helping on Reception, it’s nice to meet people and help them if I can. Visitors will often chat to me about what’s going on in their life and about the person they are visiting on the ward. It’s rewarding to know that I’m helping the community.

“It’s also nice to know that I’m helping the nurses in a small way because it means they aren’t disturbed when visitors come to the door and they can concentrate on the patients.”

Jennifer volunteers on Reception every Sunday from 1pm to 4.30pm. To find out more about the Weekend Receptionist role or other volunteer vacancies please click here
