Purpose of role:
Each year, we raise an amazing £27,000 towards patient care from people kindly placing their pennies in our collection boxes. Home Bargain Stores kindly support the Hospice by having our boxes on their tills and do a brilliant job collecting customers change. We need someone to help by collecting and replacing these boxes on a regular basis. The support you provide will make a big difference to our Fundraising Team and most importantly to our patients and their families.
There are five stores in the Stoke-on-Trent area Congleton, Biddulph, Talke, Uttoxeter and Longton, and each store may have more than one box.
Days and hours:
Between shop opening hours
Flexible – Once or twice a month or as and when needed
You will need to be able to collect the full boxes, which can be heavy, and return them to the main Hospice.
Training and Support:
- Full induction on all aspects of this role
- All appropriate materials are provided
- Support available throughout the working week via the Community Fundraiser and Fundraising Team
- Meeting new people in your local community

What we offer:
Training will be given in a ‘hands on’ way, allowing the person to collect with a Community Fundraiser in the first instance to ensure everything is clear and that you are comfortable with the role. In addition to this, some training and information will be given about the hospice’s work and aims, so that you are equipped to deal with queries from people or refer people back to the relevant people at the hospice. We can pay out of pocket expenses to cover your travel costs whilst undertaking the role.
