Do you love jigsaws? St Luke’s Hospice is calling all puzzle masters to test their skills and determination at their Autumn Jigsaw Competition coming to Sandbach this October.

Find an event near you, with competitions running throughout October all over Cheshire. The Jigsaw Championships will be taking place in Sandbach, Weaverham, Wistason and Middlewich, to raise money for patient care at the Hospice.

It promises to be a unique and entertaining day out with an added element of competition.

St Luke’s Events Fundraiser, Mark Gammage, said: “After the really positive feedback from our first competition back in February we are delighted to be able to run this event again. We’ve also listened to our supporters and have set up heats across our catchment area this time so no-one has to make a long trip to take part. Although it is a competition it’s a very relaxed afternoon (as jigsaws and stress really don’t go hand-in-hand!) and there will be a Bring and Buy Jigsaw sale as well as copious amounts of tea and biscuits for everyone!”

There will be two competition categories –teams of two and teams of four. Each team will be given an identical 500 piece jigsaw and then have 2 hours to complete it (or do as much as possible). There is no age limit to this event, anyone can take part! Three winners from each heat will take part in the Grand Finale being held on Sunday 29th October at St Luke’s Hospice where they will compete against all the other heat winners – and potentially be crowned as Grand Champions!

Mandy Shaw who took part in the competition earlier in the year said, “My sister and I really enjoyed it, it was great fun and completing a jigsaw against the clock was a very different experience.  We went home with lots of new jigsaws and we were thrilled that we did manage to complete the jigsaw in the time, well just about!  We enjoyed it so much we have already signed up for this year’s event and are really looking forward to it.  The event is very inclusive too and draws people in who perhaps can’t compete in the physical challenges.”

St Luke’s would also like to run a “bring and buy” stall of jigsaws on the day so make sure to bring along and donate any jigsaws you’ve completed and pick out a new one.
