Local patients visiting St Luke’s Hospice are among the first to enjoy brand new furniture, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Crewe-based 1825 Financial Planning.

Throughout 2019, staff supported the Hospice in a variety of ways, including donating over 50 bags of pre-loved clothes, holding workplace raffles and organising an 18.25Km sponsored walk from the Bridge Inn at Audlem to the Barbridge Inn at Nantwich. Altogether, their efforts amounted to an impressive £6402.92!

St Luke’s have invested these funds in patient comfort within their popular Day Hospice, which is used by 150 people from across Mid and South Cheshire every week. The purchase of four ‘rise and recline’ chairs will replace the current furniture and offer the users more support.

Andy Bailey, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Luke’s, is over the moon at what 1825’s efforts mean to the Hospice:

“The chairs that we have been able to buy are top of the range and have been designed for users with long term health problems, offering excellent pressure management options with postural support thanks to interchangeable cushions. Unfortunately, at £1,400 each these chairs don’t come cheap, so it’s thanks to the team at 1825 that people from across the area can experience greater comfort than ever before.’’

 Steph Powell, Support Administrator at 1825, said it felt so rewarding to visit St Luke’s and see the results of their fundraising efforts first-hand:

“We chose St Luke’s Hospice as our 2019 charity of the year as they do a great deal to help make a real difference to local people’s lives. We had great fun raising the funds, through events such as bake sales and raffles and of course our 18.25km walk back in October. We would also like to thank all our clients and staff at 1825 for helping us raise this much”
