It was a double celebration for Ivor Twiss, and St Luke’s Hospice, last month when he celebrated his 60th birthday and finished 15th in his age category in the London marathon. Ivor generously asked for donations to the Hospice instead of presents on his big day, and raised a fantastic £1,655.45 in total across both events.
Ivor, who is a member of South Cheshire Harriers and lives in Crewe, achieved an incredible time of three hours and fourteen minutes in the marathon, which automatically qualified him for the race next year, when he hopes to support St Luke’s again.
Ivor said, “I wanted to support St Luke’s Hospice as I have always heard what great work the Hospice does and the incredible level of care and support that is delivered. After visiting the Hospice with my wife, we found it an incredibly positive and happy place, full of laughter and love; we will continue our support for St Luke’s.”
Angela Slack, Community Partnerships Manager at St Luke’s said, “Thank you so much to Ivor for his incredible support. This donation means so much to the Hospice and will help us to continue to provide vital care in the community.”
St Luke’s needs to raise £8,600 a day to provide care and support to patients in mid and south Cheshire. If you are interested in fundraising for St Luke’s, please contact Angela at firstname.lastname@example.org or 01606 555697.
