Adrenaline-seeking Payzone employees paraglided, parachuted and shark-dived their way to an incredible fundraising total of £15,538.27 after workers at the company voted St Luke’s Hospice as ‘2015 Charity of the Year’.

The Northwich based company organised a variety of internal charity events to get employees involved, in addition to individuals conquering personal challenges to raise cash. Stephen Boonham, a charity committee members, said “We organise lots of different things throughout the year so that everyone can get involved in some way. We had cake sales, a charity ball and team dragon boat racing. It’s great fun and makes everyone feel good too.”

Emma Cook, who paraglided and shark-dived in South Africa to raise funds last year, emphasised how important St Luke’s is to the local community. “Lots of people at Payzone have been touched by the Hospice so they are very willing to donate. St Luke’s gives dignity to people; that’s why it makes such a big difference to families. The patient always comes first.”

Both Stephen and Emma praised senior staff at the company for their support. Stephen said “We just couldn’t have achieved so much without them. They have been behind us every step of the way and allowed us to make charity part of the daily routine.”

Damon Cripps, Corporate Partnerships Manager at St Luke’s said, “We want to say a huge thankyou to Payzone. They have gone above and beyond to raise this incredible sum. It will help St Luke’s to continue providing vital care for the local community.”

St Luke’s needs to raise £8,600 a day to provide vital care and support to patients in mid and south Cheshire.
